One of the most beloved summer traditions in the metro! Hosted by the Des Moines Symphony, this patriotic outdoor concert features crowd favorites like the “1812 Overture” and other classics. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Capitol, the evening ends with a grand fireworks display above downtown. Arrive early to grab a spot on the lawn—this one fills up fast.
Adventureland Fireworks

July 4 | Fireworks at Park Close
Spend the day riding coasters and cooling off at Adventure Bay, then enjoy a sky show to end the day. Fireworks begin after the park closes, and while park admission is required earlier in the day, you’ll get a fantastic display included with your visit. It’s a fun option for families looking to turn the 4th into an all-day adventure.
Urbandale 4th of July Celebration

July 2–4 | Fireworks on July 4 at 10 PM
This 3-day celebration has it all—carnival rides, a street dance, a classic car show, live entertainment, a parade, and a full lineup of family activities. It all culminates in a grand fireworks finale on the night of July 4. It’s one of the metro’s biggest and most community-oriented 4th of July events—perfect for making new memories with the whole family.
